Attended my niece's wedding yesterday. Quite lovely. Relaxed yet elegant, simple and sincere liturgy, clear Gospel call for the couple to inhabit holy matrimony.
I was quite impressed with this opening prayer that affirmed the union of a woman and a man as God's design for marriage.
"O gracious and everliving God, you have created us male and female in your image: look mercifully upon this man and this woman who come to you seeking your blessing, and assist them with your grace, that with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honor and keep the promises and vows they make; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen."
Congratulations, S & T. God's richest blessings upon you this day and in the many days ahead.
(The chapel at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, CA. What a pipe organ! And it was such a beautiful day. Plus, we had donuts instead of wedding cake and a taco food truck for the reception meal. Yum!)
